CROSSOVER

It's official; after two straight months at #1, Def Jam's run with Jeremih f/YG’s "Don't Tell ‘Em" is finally over. Columbia's T.I. has the new Mediabase #1 with "No Mediocre" f/Iggy Azalea; it took 16 long, hard weeks, but Ayelet Schiffman and James White have scaled the mountain. This marks Ayelet and James’ fourth #1 record of the year (after Beyoncé, DJ Snake and John Legend)… Major respect still goes to Jeremih, though, as his track has grown to be one of the biggest records of the year; from Urban, to Rhythm, to Top 40, this record has sales, Shazam success and research numbers that are through the roof. I’m excited to hear his new track, which we should be getting in a few short weeks. Speaking of Def Jam, Rick Sackhiem, Noah Sheer and Scott Maness look to climb right back into the top spot this coming week with Iggy Azalea f/Rita Ora’s "Black Widow." It actually went #1 at BDS this past week, and is in the driver’s seat on Mediabase’s building chart. They also have Big Sean’s “IDFWU,” which moves #34-27, up 300 spins. August Alsina f/Nicki Minaj’s “No Love” is at #53, and Teyana Taylor f/Pusha T & Yo Gotti’s “Maybe” is at #56… In addition to “No Mediocre,” Columbia’s Ayelet and James have Beyoncé’s “Flawless” at #14, Calvin Harris f/John Newman’s “Blame” at #34 and T.I.’s “About the Money” at #37. And they just signed an artist named Dej Loaf; her single, “Try Me,” is #1 at Shazam in NYC, Philly and Wilmington, #4 in Baltimore and Top 5 in Detroit, Hartford, and Greensboro. Make sure you check this one out... Gary Spangler and Davey Dee barely have time to breathe with the amount of records they’re juggling at Republic these days. Drake’s “0-100” is at #5, up 200 spins, Rich Gang f/Young Thug & Rich Homie Quan’s “Lifestyle” is at #13, DJ Khaled f/Chris Brown, August Alsina, Future & Jeremih’s “Hold You Down” climbs to #21, increasing 280 spins, Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” (Big Machine) is at #23, up 175 spins, Tove Lo “Habits (Stay High)” (Island) moves to #30, gaining 200 spins, and Ariana Grande f/The Weeknd’s “Love Me Harder” is the highest debuting track this week at #33, while gaining 550 spins. The Weeknd’s “Often” is at #48; make sure to check out the up-tempo mix… John Strazza, Inca and Lori G at RCA have Chris Brown f/Usher & Rick Ross’ “New Flame” at #4 and still growing. In addition, Kid Ink f/Usher & Tinashe’s “Body Language” moves #30-24, increasing 375 spins. Just under the chart is Mr. Probz’s “Waves,” which continues to grow at Top 40. Two other records to really pay attention to are Usher f/Juicy J’s “I Don’t Mind” and Jamie Foxx f/2 Chainz’s “Party Ain’t A Party”… Sujit Kundu and Epic are working to get Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” to the Top 10; it’s at #11 this week, but has a number of increases kicking in. They also have Bobby Shmurda’s “Hoy Boy” at #25, up 150 spins; this record is gaining traction, and the buzz continues to build. Snootie Wild’s “Made Me” impacts this week, and it’s off to a good start at Urban… Lee L’Heureux and Warner Bros. take Jason Derulo’s “Trumpets” to #17 this week. Meanwhile, I Love Makonnen f/Drake’s “Tuesday” moves to #35 this week. Keep a lookout for Nico & Vinz’s “In Your Arms,” which is moving up the Top 40 chart quickly, and PartyNextDoor f/Drake’s “Recognize,” which is starting to bubble under… Finally, congrats to Ricky Burns at WRCL/Flint for getting the APD/MD gig at WJLB/Detroit! OM Clay Church is looking for the next great MD/night jock at WRCL. Send your info to [email protected].
