CROSSOVER
It was a great Grammy night for some of our Rhythm artists… Columbia’s Daft Punk won for Record, Album, Best Engineered Album and Pop Duo Performance of the year. Pharrell Williams also snagged wins for his work with Daft Punk, as well as getting a separate honor for Producer of the Year… Lava/Republic’s Lorde took home Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance trophies. There were many, many more big winners, and it’s nice to see the Rhythm community be a part of their success… FINALLY! The first changing of the guard in the new year. There’s a new #1, and it goes to John Strazza, Inca, and Lori G at RCA. Kid Ink attains the first #1 record of his career with “Show Me” f/Chris Brown. It took 15 long weeks on the chart, but their persistence paid off. They also have the #3 record in the country with Pitbull f/Ke$ha’s “Timber,” which is still growing at over 300 spins a week. RCA also has T-Pain f/B.o.B’s “Up Down” going #24-21, as well as Chris Brown f/Lil Wayne’s “Loyal,” entering the Top 25, with an increase of over 360 spins. Better keep an eye on the Shakira f/Rihanna’s “Can’t Remember to Forget You.” It’s just outside the chart and getting new support each week… Columbia continues to be red-hot, as Beyoncé f/Jay Z “Drunk in Love” skyrockets. It goes #5-4, up 800 spins! It’s looking more and more like the next #1 record. Ayelet Schiffman and James White also have J Cole’s “She Knows” going #15-13, John Legend’s “All of Me” at #31, Calvin Harris f/Ayah Marar’s “Thinking About You” at #32, with an increase of 181 spins, and Beyoncé’s “XO” at #34. They also had the biggest debut this week with Pharrell’s “Happy,” at #36 and up over 400 spins. Ayelet and James also debut DJ Snake & Lil Jon’s “Turn Down for What” at #37, increasing nearly 200 spins… IDJ is having quite the run with YG f/Jeezy & Rich Homie Quan’s “My Hitta.” It jumps #10-7, gaining 500 spins. Rick Sackhiem, Noah Sheer, and Scott Maness are also breaking new artist Jhene Aiko with her single “The Worst.” It will debut this week and be among the Most Added as well. They’re impacting Jay Z f/Beyoncé “Part II (On the Run)” this week. This too will be in the Most Added column… Gary Spangler, Davey Dee and Stef Cole at Republic have both Drake records inside the Top 20 this week. “The Language” is at #12 and “All Me” is at #18. SoMo’s “Ride” continues to grow stronger each week. It’s up 279 spins and sits at #17. Lorde, fresh off her Grammy wins, has “Team” at #22 and up 323 spins. Sage the Gemini follows up his last hit with “Red Nose,” which moves #31-27, up 257 spins. Republic certainly looks to be the model of consistency… Lee L’Heureux and Warner Bros. have a monster with Jason Derulo f/2 Chainz’ “Talk Dirty.” It leaps #23-16 this week, up 648 spins… Rachael Spangler and Epic are impacting Kat Dhalia’s “Crazy” this week. There are some real believers in this track, as she is looking to have a solid first week. Make sure you revisit Childish Gambino’s “3005” (Glassnote). People are still talking about this track, and some mix shows are starting to heat it up.
