If you’re an East Coaster or a Midwesterner you probably wouldn’t know it, but spring is here. Today is opening day for baseball, the start of the Orioles winning the World Series [editor’s note: Put down the hash pipe, Andy] and (hopefully) the beginning of some warmer weather and no more snow. It also signifies late spring/early summer radio shows; over the next few weeks, I’ll be highlighting a few of these. Everyone from 50 Cent to Tech N9NE will be on a show… Well, it took 12 long weeks, but Jason Derulo climbs to the Top this week with “Talk Dirty.” It was a consistent climb, and the timing was right. Congrats to our buddy Lee L’Heureux and his Warner Bros. team for the hard work and perseverance… I’m beginning to sound like a broken record, but Columbia just keeps on keeping on. They currently have 5 records in the Top 13. Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” is at #2, Beyoncé’s “Drunk In Love” is #5, John Legend’s “All Of Me” is at #6, and up 485 spins, Beyoncé’s “Partition” is #11 and increased 437 spins, and DJ Snake & Lil Jon’s “Turn Down For What” is at #13, up 273 spins. Ayelet Schiffman and James White are also getting Calvin Harris’ “Summer” going. It’s up over 100 spins and just debuted on the Pop chart… John Strazza, Inca, and Lori G at RCA make the biggest jump in the Top 10 this week, taking Chris Brown’s “Loyal” #6-3, increasing nearly 500 spins; could this track be the next contender for #1? They also have the biggest debut this week in Justin Timberlake’s “Not A Bad Thing”, which comes in at #32, up nearly 300 spins. It’s also a monster at Pop. And look for Pitbull f/GRL’s “Wild Wild Love” as well as Tinashe f/Schoolboy Q’s “2 On” to debut in the next few weeks as well. Gary Spangler and Davey Dee at Republic have Lorde’s “Team” inside the Top 10 and still growing. They also have Young Money’s “Trophies” f/Drake climbing #22-19 and up 238 spins, as well as The Chainsmokers’ “#Selfie” inside the Top 25. Sitting just outside the chart is Adrian Marcel’s “2AM,” which looks to debut this week. They also have Young Money’s “Lookin Ass” f/Nicki Minaj looking to chart in the next two weeks. And be on the lookout for the new SoMo, “Show Off,” impacting next week… Rick Sackhiem, Noah Sheer, and Scott Maness have Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” moving #33-20 on the chart and up an amazing 529 spins! Jay Z’s “Part II” is at #14 and still growing, while Jhene Aiko’s “The Worst” is at #16, increasing over 150 spins. YG’s “Who Do You Love” f/Drake see triple-digit gains, and Mariah Carey’s “You’re Mine” continues to develop (it’s now #36). Ludacris’ “Party Girls” sits just off the chart, while August Alsina’s “Numb” f/B.o.B. and Yo Gotti looks to be a few weeks away from the chart… Epic’s Sujit Kundo takes Kat Dahlia’s “Crazy” #37-35 this week, and debuts Future’s “Move That Doh” f/Pharrell at #38. He also continues to build Kesington Kross’ “Gimmie Your Love,” with new supporters each week… And as I continue to say each week, Childish Gambino’s “3005” is a sleeper! Nick P at Glassnote continues to plug away, and the record is only a few short weeks away from debuting.
