WEIR PLAYING IN LEGACY'S BAND
8/4/16

Columbia/Legacy will release Blue Mountain, Bob Weir’s first solo record since 2000’s Evening Moods with Ratdog, on 9/ 30. It is the Grateful Dead guitarist’s sixth non-Dead studio album and his first with Sony Music’s Legacy imprint.

Producer Josh Kaufman partnered with Weir on the album, which features songwriting collaborations with Josh Ritter and performances from guitarists Aaron Dessner and Bryce Dessner and bassist Scott Devendorf.

Weir, who wrapped a Dead & Co. tour 7/30, will play eight shows in support of the new album in October. He plays The Wiltern on 10/10, Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre on 10/14 & 15, and the Ryman Auditorium on 10/19. Weir will be bundling physical copies of Blue Mountain with concert tickets; tabs of Purple Haze cost extra.

The 12 new songs draw on Weir’s experiences working on a ranch in Wyoming as a teenager.

“We’re so pleased to welcome Bob Weir to the Columbia/Legacy family and absolutely thrilled to partner with him to share these stories and this beautiful record with the world,” said Adam Block, President of Legacy Recordings.
