GLASPER WALKS MILES
THROUGH "GHETTO"
4/13/16

Robert Glasper’s take on Miles Davis’ "The Ghetto Walk," titled “Ghetto Walkin’,” is the first track released the keyboardist’s Everything's Beautiful, an exploration of Davis’ music. Glasper created Everything's Beautiful after scoring the Don Cheadle film on Davis, Miles Ahead.

The track will be available 4/16 as a Record Store Day 2016 12" vinyl single backed with "The Ghetto Walk," an outtake from Davis’ 1969 classic In a Silent Way. String Theory’s John Vondracek and Jay Kaslo—with art direction from Alice Butts—created a video for the song telling a story, they say, about “a hero's journey through the ‘ghetto’ and into salvation.”

Everything's Beautiful will be released 5/27, the day after Miles' 90th birthday, and will feature Glasper’s take on cuts from throughout Davis’ years on Columbia. Among the artists on the album are Erykah Badu, Laura Mvula, KING, John Scofield, Ledisi and Stevie Wonder. Singer Bilal is featured on “Ghetto Walkin’.”
