JANIS JOPLIN DOC SOUNDTRACK RELEASED
2/12/16

The soundtrack to Amy J. Berg’s Janis: Little Girl Blue is being released digitally today and on CD on March 4. Columbia/Legacy’s album of Janis Joplin recordings includes a previously unreleased live version of "Piece of My Heart" recorded at the Generation Club in New York in April 1968 during the Wake for Martin Luther King concert.

Janis: Little Girl Blue (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) includes 17 live and studio performances, stretching from an early rendition of the blues standard “Careless Love” to her take on “Tell Mama” recorded in Calgary on July 4, 1970, and tracks such as “Get It While You Can” and “Me And Bobby McGee” form her final album Pearl.

The physical package includes new liner notes by Berg, vintage photographs and reproductions of Janis’ letters that are seen in the film.

Janis: Little Girl Blue will have its U.S. broadcast premiere 5/3 on PBS as part of the American Masters series. The broadcast version includes footage cut from the theatrical version.
