U.K. CHARTS: METALLICA BACK AT #1
4/21/23

Metallica have their first U.K. Official Albums #1 in 15 years while Lewis Capaldi claims his fifth #1 single.

Metallica's 72 Seasons (Vertigo) outsold the rest of the Top 5 albums combined. The Weeknd’s The Highlights (Republic/Island) rose one slot to #2 while Taylor Swift’s Midnights was up two to #3.

Swift, whose The Eras Tour continues stateside, saw five of her LPs move up the chart this week: Besides Midnights, 1989 rose four to #13, Lover and folklore lifted five each to #15 and #20, respectively, and reputation was up eight to #29.

Waterparks claimed a career best with Intellectual Property (Parlophone) debuting at #10 and the debut from rapper Avelino, God Save the Streets (More Music/OddChild), landed at #12.

On the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart, “Wish You The Best” (Vertigo/EMI) is the third single from Lewis Capaldi’s upcoming second album to hit the top of the chart, and fifth overall.

The track was boosted by the release of a special CD single, which counted for 16.8k of its sales. After the arrival of his Netflix documentary, “Forget Me” and “Pointless” are also back in the chart, at #7 and #16, respectively.

Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding's "Miracles" (Columbia) dipped to #2, but was the most-streamed track in the country with 5.6m plays. “Daylight” (Miserable Music) by TikTok star David Kushner is new at #3, and Post Malone’s “Chemical” (Mercury/Republic) scored a #11 debut.
