AIM APPOINTS MONTELLO AS CEO
12/7/22

The U.K.’s Association of Independent Music has a new CEO: Silvia Montello. She brings 30 years of experience to the role when she strats on 1/31.

Most recently, Montello was CEO of global trade body Association for Electronic Musica position she took up in April. Her past experience spans marketing, commercial and strategic operations in positions at Universal Music Group, BMG and AWAL, as well as startup Blokur.

Montello replaces outgoing AIM CEO Paul Pacifico, who has joined the Saudi Music Commission as CEO.

Montello’s “extensive industry background, contact base, business development skills, passion for diversity and inclusion and vision for the future bring renewed leadership to AIM,” Chair of AIM Nadia Khan said.

Montello said that staying ahead of evolution, tackling challenges and prioritizing diversity and inclusivity will be her priorities in the new job. “Our industry is evolving at an ever-increasing pace, that evolution bringing with it both fresh opportunities around music consumption and creation, audience development, new technology solutions, alongside existing and future challenges for our community to work together to overcome.

“AIM will continue its commitment to ensuring our independent creators and rightsholders can reap the maximum benefits, striving toward a truly diverse and inclusive industry that nurtures great talent from every genre, background and identity.”

In addition to her various previous roles, Montello founded the music and marketing consultancy Voicebox Consulting. She also co-founded #remarQabl, an electronic music-focused label services and publishing company supporting new talent from under-represented backgrounds.

Montello is a Trustee of charity Help Musicians and sits on the Advisory Board for Moving The Needle (U.K.), an educational platform that supports women in the record industry.
