U.K. MIDWEEKS: MAIDEN VS. DRAKE
9/6/21

Iron Maiden and Drake are battling it out for this week’s U.K. Official Albums #1 with 8k sales separating the two at the halfway point. Over on singles, Drake looks set for the top.

Iron Maiden’s Senjutsu (Parlophone) is leading the midweek race thanks to physical sales and downloads. At #2, Drake’s Certified Lover Boy (Island) leads on streaming.

Little Simz is also new at #3 with Sometimes I Might Be Introvert (Age 101), while 21st Century Love Songs (Graphite) from Newcastle band The Wildhearts starts at #4.

Kanye West’s DONDA (UMG) has fallen to #5 and ABBA’s Gold (Polar Music) is up six places to #6 following their comeback announcement.

Imagine Dragons are vying for a fifth consecutive U.K. Top 10 album with Mercury — Act 1 (Interscope) at #8 and Rudimental’s Ground Control (Asylum) starts at #10.

On the U.K.’s Official Singles midweeks, Drake has three tracks in the Top 3: “Girls Want Girls” f/Lil Baby at #1; “Champagne Poetry” at #2; and “Fair Trade” f/Travis Scott at #3.

Ed Sheeran’s reign at #1 for 10 weeks looks set to come to an end as “Bad Habits” (Atlantic) drops to #4.

ABBA are heading back to the Top 10 for the first time in 40 years with their two comeback singles taken from their new album, Voyage (Polar Music), set to be released on 11/5. On today’s chart, “I Still Have Faith In You” is at #6 and “Don’t Shut Me Down” starts at #7.

Elton John is also heading for a Top 10 comeback (his first in almost 20 years) with Dua Lipa collaboration “Cold Heart (Pnau Remix” (EMI) up 13 places to #10. Glass Animals’ viral hit “Heat Waves” (UMG) is eyeing a new peak at #12, rising six places.
