BBC SOUND OF 2021 LONGLIST

The BBC Music Sound of 2021 longlist has been revealed, with UMG and Warner counting three acts apiece while Sony has one and the independent sector counts three.

The list—chosen by a panel of industry experts and alumni artists including Billie Eilish and Stormzy—has tipped 10 new acts for success next year.

From UMG U.K.’s camp is two EMI artists—eclectic pop act Bree Runway and R&B singer Greentea Peng—and Island band The Lathums. Warner Music U.K. has Warner Records' singer, songwriter and producer GRIFF and rapper Pa Salieu, and Parlophone-signed rapper Dutchavelli. Rapper- singer BERWYN is Sony’s entry.

Amongst the independent acts are Chess Club-signed singer and songwriter Alfie Templeman, AWAL act girl in red—a Norwegian singer, songwriter and producer—and singer and songwriter Holly Humberstone, who is currently releasing through Platoon.

The countdown to the Top 5 will commence Sunday 1/3 and continue throughout the week with the winner announced on 1/7.
