Kylie Minogue’s DISCO (BMG) has scored the biggest opening week in the U.K. for an album in 2020, topping the Official Album chart with 55,000 combined sales. Over on singles, Ariana Grande is #1 for a third week.
DISCO is Minogue’s eighth Official Albums #1 and her biggest opening week since 2010’s Aphrodite. She sets a new Official Chart record, becoming the first female artist to score a #1 on the albums chart in five consecutive decades—the 1980s, ’90s, ‘00s, ‘10s and ‘20s.
Little Mix finishes at #2 with their sixth album, Confetti (RCA), which is the most-streamed release of the week.
Another Official Chart record has been set this week by Dame Shirley Bassey, whose final album, I Owe It All To You (Decca), is new at #5. As a result, Bassey is the first female artist to claim a Top 40 album on the Official Albums Chart in seven consecutive decades.
