WEAREBLK founders Antz Robb, Aidan Glennon and Abdi Abdille.
Sony Music U.K. has struck a joint venture partnership with the WEAREBLK label focusing on signing and developing artists across the genres of hip-hop, U.K. rap, drill, grime, Afrobeat, Afro swing and R&B.
The deal was led by DJ Semtex, Director of Artist Development at Sony Music, who will be working closely with WEAREBLK founders Anthony “Antz” Robb, Abdikarim “Abdi” Abdille and Aidan Glennon. The trio report into Ministry of Sound President Dipesh Parmar.
"Individually, Abdi, Antz, and Aidan bring a unique skillset to the table,” Semtex said. “Collectively, they have a fresh methodology for discovering artists, and rapidly building audiences.”
WEAREBLK has already achieved chart success with Niko B’s "Who’s That What’s That," which has more than 20m worldwide streams and spent 11 weeks on the Official U.K. Top 40 after first charting in June.
Robb launched Instagram culture account imjustbait at the age of 16; Abdille founded music-based social media brand, Abdi TV; and Glennon has worked in artist development, most recently running Ditto Management in the U.K. alongside Matt Dodds.
