Anne-Marie manager Jazmin Sherman has exited Rocket Music to set up a JV with Sam and Roy Eldridge under Urok, Hunger Mgmt. She’s taken Marie and Grace Barker with her.
Sherman, one of the managers interviewed in our bumper U.K. special issue, was awarded Breakthrough Manager at the Artist and Manager Awards last week.
For more than two years Sherman has been looking after Atlantic artist Anne-Marie, whose debut album, Speak Your Mind, bowed at #3 in April and is the U.K.’s biggest debut of 2018 YTD. Polydor signing Grace Barker is getting ready for her first release next year after having cuts as a songwriter with Jonas Blue, Sub Focus, MJ Cole and Olly Murs. Sherman spent seven years at Rocket; there she also looked after Jake Isaac.
Sherman with Anne-Marie and Warner Music International head Jeremy Marsh, both of whom expressed a Hunger for scones.
"I wanted a new environment to start my own company but within the framework of a dynamic, internationally successful management company," she told HITS. "Both Sam and Roy’s experience over the last 20 years on the frontline of music management was something I was inspired by and exactly what I needed to make that happen.”
Said Sam Eldridge: “Jazz is a brilliant manager and we are so excited to help support and build on the fantastic success she has already achieved.”
Hunger Mgmt is named after one of Sherman’s favorite books, Hunger Makes Me A Modern Girl by Carrie Brownstein. She explains: “She was in a band and toured around the world, left music and wrote a TV show called Portlandia, which she also stars in. She’s unbelievably smart and funny. I felt really attached to the title, because I think hunger is the reason why we do anything.”
Urok also reps British talent including Jess Glynne, Liam Gallagher, Jade Bird and Tom Odell.
