ISLAND U.K. BEEFS UP URBAN DIVISION
3/7/18

Universal and Sony in the U.K. have swapped another A&R exec as Adele White heads to Island Records’ urban division as Senior A&R Manager. Island Senior Marketing Manager Johnny Brocklehurst has also been promoted into the division as Head of Marketing.

As A&R Manager at Sony’s Relentless, White’s success stories included Nadia Rose and Not3s. “Johnny and Adele are very much part of the new breed,” said Island President Darcus Beese in Music Week. “The way they think and operate fits perfectly with everything [Head of Urban] Alex [Boateng] is trying to achieve in the Urban Division. Trust me, this lot can make a serious contribution to the culture.”

The appointment is hot on the heels of Polydor exec Zeon Richards joining Sony’s Ministry of Sound as Head of A&R.
