IMAGEM LAUNCHES JV WITH KARMA
8/16/16

Imagem and Karma Artists take a break from binge-watching synchronized diving to celebrate their new synchronization. From left, Imagem’s Kim Frankiewicz and Anna Carpenter, Karma Artists’ Barry Blue, Ross Gautreau and Jordan Jay and Imagem’s Chimene Mantori.

Two companies in the U.K.’s indie sector have new deals: Publisher Imagem Music has struck a JV with writer management company Karma Artists, and D+B label Hospital Records has secured distribution with Proper Music Group.

Imagem will provide full administrative and creative services for Karma’s roster on a global basis.

Karma Artists, launched in 2012 by former Polydor A&R Jordan Jay and ASCAP exec Ross Gautreau, offers A&R and brand consultancy as well as producer and songwriter management. Recent success has come from Tre Jean Marie (whose writing credits include Craig David's “One More Time”) and Red Triangle (5SOS, Cheryl, Little Mix and Charlie Puth). The company also acts as consultant A&Rs for with Universal and with SYCO on X Factor.

The new agreement, effective immediately, covers all future copyrights together with administration of the catalogues acquired by its publishing house, Karma Songs.

“Jordan and Ross have a fantastic ear for next generation writers and producers and their success in song pitching and securing cuts for their clients is second to none,” Kim Frankiewicz, MD of Imagem Music U.K., said.

Meanwhile, the deal between Proper and Chris Goss’ Hospital will see the former manage physical distribution for the label across U.K, Ireland and shipping to Europe.
