A brand new downloadable playlist show has been added to BBC Radio 1. Beginning in January 2016, the show will feature an hour long mix of themed music, hosted and curated by a different DJ, artist or personality each week.
Produced by BBC Scotland and made available on Thursdays from 9-10pm, examples include Daniel P. Carter’s Greatest Rock Songs Ever, Ellie Goulding's Running Mix, Annie Mac’s Ibiza Classics and Grimmy Greatest Big Weekend Performances.
"Radio 1 continues to innovate with the way we present and distribute the new music that our listeners love, and I’m excited to see whose playlists I’ll be able to download to my phone," shared Radio 1 & 1Xtra Controller Ben Cooper. "Across the industry, whether it be Apple or the BBC, we are all experimenting with reaching new audiences with audio in new ways.”
Meanwhile, Jamz Supernova has jumped on board at 1Xtra to present a new future-facing R'n'B show, which will air Tuesdays 10pm-1am.
In other 1Xtra news, grime DJ Logan Sama will be replacing Sian Anderson for three months, starting 11/18, as the latter goes on maternity leave.
Got all that? Good.
