WHAT IT IS: Dallas-born Jena Rose, who first drew attention as a piano prodigy, is making a name for herself in 2022, amassing 400m+ TikTok plays on her 2021 single “Checkmate.” At presstime, the track is in its 25th week on iHeart’s Most Requested Live With Romeo and heading for the Mediabase Top 40 chart.
