WHAT IT IS: With credits including Luke Combs’ “Forever After All” and Jake Owen’s “Homemade,” Covington, Ga., native and ’90s country disciple Drew Parker has already established a signature sound. His own While You’re Gone EP showcases his lyrical chops through seven energy-filled, twangy tracks that he concluded were too “him” for anyone else to sing. The title cut is a clever power ballad that puts Parker’s powerhouse vocals, stone-country instrumentation and charm on full display. The EP is the first true look at an artist who’s already developed his own unique sound and style, and it surely won’t be the last.
