UPSAHL (Arista)
2/4/21

WHAT IT IS: Phoenix-born, L.A.-based alt-pop star UPSAHL, neé Taylor Upsahl, is bringing a punk attitude back to pop. Combining her enigmatic style, musical chops and star power, the singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist began writing and releasing music at 17. After receiving critical acclaim on her debut EP, Hindsight 20/20, in 2019, she followed up with a series of buzzworthy singles including “Drugs,” which hit Spotify’s Global Viral chart, “Stop!” and the unapologetic “12345SEX,” and—in the middle of a pandemic—dropped her latest EP, Young Life Crisis. She also co-wrote “Good in Bed” off Dua Lipa’s Grammy-nominated Future Nostalgia. A resurgence of “Drugs” on TikTok inspired 2m+ videos, whereupon UPSAHL drove the track’s momentum by releasing a remix featuring blackbear.
