WHAT IT IS: Minneapolis native Wyn Starks embraces diversity and displays his spellbinding voice on his debut EP, Who I Am. With his timeless melodies and multi-octave vocals, this modern-day pop-soul pioneer emanates classic charm and showcases his songwriting chops on tracks like “Circles”; throwback power ballad “Split in Two”; the groove-driven “Dancing My Way” a bridge between contemporary pop and Motown reflecting Starks’ Midwest upbringing; and “Sunday Morning,” with its sweeping hooks and swooning strings. A melting pot of old-school R&B, retro pop and soul, Who I Am lays the foundation for an emerging artist who blurs the boundaries between genres and generations.
