WHAT IT IS: At the forefront of modern jazz music, award-winning saxophonist, composer and DJ Nubya Garcia is carving a path for herself in the bustling and vibrant London jazz scene with her first LP, SOURCE. With lead singles “Pace” and the title track, the album—produced by Garcia and Kwes (Bobby Womack, Solange)—follows her 2017 EP 5ive and 2018’s EP When We Are. Studying under pianist Nikki Yeoh at Camden Music, Garcia joined Gary Crosby’s Tomorrow’s Warriors in her late teens and completed her training at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music. As a member of the experimental septet Nérija, Garcia has toured globally.
