WHAT IT IS: “Kairos,” the title of Bus’ album, is Greek for “appointed time.” And, as the artist reflects, “Everything is coming together at the right time.” The movement began with the release of “You,” which jumped from #4-1 in just eight weeks on Billboard’s Adult R&B Songs chart, matching the fastest-rising Adult R&B #1 for a debut hit and remaining at #1 for five weeks. With the help of rap icons Ghostface Killah and Rick Ross, who contributed to two fiery remixes, the song surpassed 10m. Bus’ newest song, “Mr. Big Shot”—reminiscent of vintage R&B while still feeling current—debuted as part of NPR’s Tiny Desk series.
