WHAT IT IS: The Teskey Brothers have appeared as a rare musical gem. Honoring the Motown sound and working it into something of their very own. The Glassnote debut album, Run Home Slow—a raw combination of soul and blues—has warmed the hearts of listeners everywhere with its melancholic, analog tones. It was recently nominated for six Australian Aria Awards, winning one for guitarist Sam Teskey (Engineer of the Year). Written by all four band members, the album was recorded in their home studio in Australia and produced by Paul Butler (Michael Kiwanuka, St Paul & the Broken Bones, Andrew Bird). Singer Josh Teskey’s smoky, whiskey vocals defy expectation, while the band around him holds an irresistible groove.
