WHAT IT IS: Best known as a member of multi-platinum group Fifth Harmony, Normani explores a new musical direction on “Love Lies” with Khalid. Sonically and stylistically, the song speaks to the direction of her personal methods of making music. Born in Atlanta, the songstress grew up in New Orleans before moving to Houston with her family at nine years old after Hurricane Katrina. Always excited about music, she began dancing at age three and grew up idolizing world-class entertainers like Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson and Beyoncé. Inspired by her love for pop and R&B, “Love Lies” offers a closer look at Normani as an artist in her own right.
