WHAT IT IS: Very rarely does an artist come along with a tone or take that shakes a format to its core; for country, that’s Morgan Wallen. His first single, “The Way I Talk,” went Top 30, and his current single, “Up Down” f/Florida Georgia Line, is climbing up the charts. Both songs are a true definition of who he is and where he’s from. Wallen is getting widespread, heavy airplay and critical acclaim. He’s snagged opening slots touring with Florida Georgia Line and Luke Bryan, as well as his own headlining tour dates. Since moving to Music City in 2015, he’s also been welcomed into the prestigious Nashville writing community, with hitmakers including Craig Wiseman, Rodney Clawson, Chris Tompkins,
the Warren brothers, Matt Dragstrem and more. An album, helmed by award-winning producer Joey Moi, is due this April.
