Louisa Johnson (SYCO)
11/24/16

WHAT IT IS: Johnson won The X Factor in 2015. According to SYCO A&R man Tyler Brown, “her voice is undeniable, she has incredible tone and range and has a fantastic look. She also has a clear sense of what she wants to do and say as an artist.” After The X Factor, her team wanted to make a positioning statement. The perfect opportunity came along with “Tears” by Clean Bandit; it launched on the Britain’s Got Talent finale in May, which had an average audience of 10.4m. The song became a Top 5 record and is now platinum. Johnson just released her first single, “So Good,” and within a week, it hit the Top 20—“a real achievement for a new artist in today’s streaming-led world,” Brown points out. It’s now close to hitting the Top 10. The ambition is to break Louisa globally. Obviously, that begins with the U.K. She’s off to a great start, and now it’s about making sure that continues until the album—a really exciting pop record that’s almost complete— drops next year. Management is Roar Global / This Is Global, and CAA is the agency.
