If you ever want to see a music video which plays like a feature film, then you must check out 30 Seconds to Mars’ “Kings and Queens.” The brilliant track makes a big move at iGEN as well as on the main chart this week. The band will be playing some alternative Xmas shows this holiday season, including headlining the 12th Annual the Night 89X Stole Xmas! Mr. Detroit Jay Hudson told me the show, which also features Flyleaf, is about to sell out… Speaking of Xmas shows, KROQ announced its annual star-studded lineup, featuring AFI, 30 Seconds to Mars and Alice in Chains on night one, while on the second night, Muse will headline with 311, Phoenix and The Bravery, among others. I should also mention that Xmas shows promoted by Live 105 and KNDD, featuring similar acts, have already sold out… It sometimes takes awhile, but quality eventually wins out in the end and that’s what has happened with Phoenix’s “1901.” Congrats to Team RED and Glassnote for a Top 10 record and, of course, an iGEN smash!… The biggest iGEN gainer this week belongs to red-hot Pearl Jam. The band’s new single, “Just Breathe,” is taking off at Alternative and seeing immediate sales reaction. As we head into the holidays, this song works… If you didn’t notice, Hockey makes a huge move this week on the main chart with “Too Fake.” In the sea of big Q4 releases, the Astralwerks gang has done an incredible job of finding fans and developing a new artist… Have you listened to Temper Trap? Columbia and Glassnote have teamed up for a good one, building with “Sweet Disposition.”… I really like “A Kiss With a Fist” from Florence + the Machine, already seeing nice action from KRBZ and KSJO… Now that the end of the year is just about here, let’s take another look at Matt and Kim’s “Daylight.” This very catchy track has big spins at WRFF, KEDJ and 91X… The leader of The Strokes, Julian Casablancas, has a solo record out and it’s real good. The first single is “Out of the Blue.”
