MARTY AND MATES POUR ON THE SECRET SAUCE
2/15/18

Marty Bandier is bullish on the state of the biz. In a new Music Week interview, the Sony/ATV chief is joined by lieutenants Guy Moot and Brian Monaco to discuss the opportunities brought by streaming, his aspirations for the next phase of the company and songwriting as the "secret sauce" of the whole shebang.

The publishing ruler notes that the new rates for streaming have been transformative and is particularly energized by the growth in paid subscribers for streaming services.

"We’ll see what happens when Spotify goes public," Marty remarks in the piece. “I’d feel better if we had some equity in it! We do what we do and we fight for our songwriters to get paid."

Moot weighs in on the increasingly global focus of the biz. "We’ve got artists signed from Nigeria, East London then you’re in L.A., Toronto is a hotspot. I’m planning a trip to China to really look at the possibilities, same with Japan. The world map is changing."
