WARNER/CHAPPELL RISES TO #1

Warner/Chappell was the No. 1 music publisher in the U.S. in the third quarter of 2017.

The Jon Platt-led company was up five percentage points over the previous quarter, hitting 23% of the market and landing 55 of the Top 100 radio songs. In addition, Warner/Chappell was the #1 country music publisher for the quarter.

Universal Music Publishing Group held the #2 spot overall for a second consecutive quarter with a 20.4% market share.

After 20 consecutive quarters at #1, Sony/ATV dropped to third place with an 18.7% market share.

Platt congratulated his staff on the achievement.

BMG placed fourth with 8.34% followed by Kobalt with 7.76%. Both had writers on 25 of the quarter's top songs.

Words & Music/Big Deal followed with 2.3%. Pulse Music Group had 1.26% marketshare and Spirit Music Group and Downtown Music Publishing pulled in 1.15%. SONGS rounded out the Top 10 with a 1% share.
