HELLO MUDDAH, HELLO PUBCO: GREETINGS FROM CAMP WARNER/CHAPPELL
5/8/17

Warner/Chappell hosted a week-long overnight songwriting camp in New York this last week. They brought in songwriters from across the world to collaborate and create in a bevy of arts and crafts activities. Campers also got into some recreational happy hours, dinners, and canoe-journeys for which the A&R folk at various labels like Republic, Atlantic, RCA and Ultra were primarily responsible. Camp Warner/Chappell New York’s alumni include Asia Whiteacre, Kinetic & Onelove, MNEK, Noise Club, Peoples, Ross Golan, Rosez, Scott Harris, T-Minus, Zach & Roger and Jerm. When not working on their underwater basket weaving, these have worked with artists from Drake and Hailee Steinfeld to Fifth Harmony, The Chainsmokers, Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar and more.

(Clockwise from top left: MNEK, Smarter Child, T-Minus, Zak Waters)

SVP and Co-Head of A&R at Warner/Chappell Katie Vinten remarked “These camps consistently foster new levels of creativity. Amazing songs have been born out of these marathon sessions, and we can’t wait to hear the finished results of our talented songwriters’ hard work.” This camp is in the wake of another the pubco hosted in Las Vegas,
and precedes an upcoming camp in Miami. While the writers were hard at work on their own crafts, Vinten and fellow SVP and Co-head of A&R Ryan Press we’re able to make some art of their own, fashioning a strikingly accurate portrait of Jon Platt from macaroni and glitter.
