WARNER/CHAPPELL SAYS YELLO
9/28/16

Last night in Berlin, a bunch of people got stoned, while listening to electronic music. On a potentially unrelated note, last night, Warner/Chappell hosted early electro-pop trailblazers Yello's album release party in Berlin.

Toy is the thirteenth studio album to be released since the duo's start in the late '70s. You may recall their 1985 classic “Oh Yeah,” which was used in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, The Secret of My Success and K-9. It also serves as the theme song for the TV character Duffman in The Simpsons. And it snagged a placement in a 2012 Super Bowl ad for Honda. That said, one can safely assume that the event was crawling with film industry weasels and ad agency reps alike.

“We are delighted that Warner/Chappell has thrown a party to mark the launch of Toy," shared Boris Blank and Dieter Meier (aka Yello). "They have delivered great sync deals for us in the past that have helped take our music to a wider audience and we’ve every confidence they will repeat that success in the future.”

“Yello’s music has always been highly sought after in movies and commercials around the world," said Lars Karlsson, Warner/Chappell’s Managing Director for Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Nordics. "Our global offices are determined to continue to strike the best deals possible for their new and existing repertoire. We’ve recently renewed our long-term relationship with Boris and Dieter and wanted to use this opportunity to tell the world ‘Yello is back!’.”
