We’re back! And I must say 2018 is kicking off quite nicely. Several labels came back with guns blazing as they impacted singles from major acts on the first add week of the year. Most I talked to don’t remember that happening in the past. Normally we give it a few weeks, since the charts are still settling into place after all the holiday airplay, but here we go. Of course, you know I have to mention the NCAA National Championship, which marks the 17th National Title for The University of Alabama.

RCA’s Riccitelli, JR, Daddio and Cooper impacted Justin Timberlake’s “Filthy.” Taking Most Added honors in the first official add week of 2018 with 178 adds, the track has already climbed up inside the Top 20. G-Eazy & Halsey’s “Him & I” (Capitol/RCA) is headed Top 15, and Khalid’s “Young Dumb & Broke” (Right Hand) also joins the Top 20. Walk The Moon’s “One Foot” looks to be making the move to join the Top 20. P!nk’s “Beautiful Trauma” was in the Most Added column this week, scoring new airplay from KDWB and WRNW.

Epic welcomes one of the best in the business, Rick Sackheim. Along with his team of Afloarei and Dimig, Team Epic delivers Most Added honors once again on Camila Cabello’s “Never Be the Same” (SYCO), posting a total of 150+ adds by impact date. Camila & Young Thug’s “Havana” (SYCO) is still sitting atop the Pop chart, where it’s been since before the holiday break. Entercom’s Erik Bradley says, “Never Be the Same” is the perfect follow-up to “Havana” for Camila. It feels like the next in what will ultimately be a long list of mega pop smashes for one of the most wonderful women (and artists) I know.” Look for big releases to hit soon from Louis Tomlinson, French Montana and Kent Jones.

Caroline’s Saturn, Halpern and Holman have NF’s “Let You Down” heading toward the Top 10 and are so close to a closed-out panel. Big rotation increases come in this week from WKSC, WIOQ and WXXL.

Warner Bros.Gray, Dyer, Reich and Shih come into the New Year with three tracks moving up the chart. Dua Lipa’s “New Rules”—now Top 5—was the #2 Greatest Gainer this week, just as the track moves to Power rotation everywhere. Macklemore f/Kesha’s “Good Old Days” (Bendo) is now Top 15 with 30m+ video views. Bebe Rexha f/Florida Georgia Line’s “Meant to Be,” which is platinum in the U.S., is Top 20.

RED’s Buch, Battles and Scull had much success to celebrate in 2017 and enter the New Year with multiple hits moving on the charts. BTS, with an unprecedented social media footprint, goes Top 25 on the chart with 150+ stations onboard. Erik Olsen along with Team RED have done a great job with MAX’s “Lights Down Low” and have it set to join the Top 10. The single is nearly platinum and Top 15 U.S. Shazam.

Capitol
’s Marella, Rainey and Siciliano start the year with two tracks moving up inside the Top 10; Halsey’s “Bad at Love” (Astralwerks) is at #3 with a closed panel and looking to make the jump, and Sam Smith, who’s been Top 10 Consumption for 20 weeks, is looking to join the Top 5. Niall Horan’s “Too Much to Ask,” which has more than 123m streams, joins the Top 20. Look for new music from Beck and Migos on your desk soon.

Republic’s Spangler and Russell hit the ground running (as usual) with lots of hits in their bags. Impacting this week is Liam Payne & Rita Ora’s “For You”—the lead single from the Fifty Shades Freed soundtrack. It was Most Added, scoring adds from WPOW, WPLW and WRVW. Post Malone f/21 Savage’s “rockstar” is Top, and his “I Fall Apart” debuts this week. Taylor Swift f/Ed Sheeran & Future’s “End Game” (Big Machine) is Top 10 and was one of the Greatest Gainers for the week. Demi Lovato’s “Tell Me You Love Me” (Safehouse/Island/Hollywood) is Top 25 with 150+ stations on board. Hailee Steinfeld & Alesso f/FGL & watt’s “Let Me Go” moves Top 15 this week. Clean Bandit f/Julia Michaels’ “I Miss You” is heading Top 30. Fall Out Boy’s “Hold Me Tight or Don’t” (DCD2/Island) is chartbound.

Columbia’s Leipsner, Borris and Vaughan are ringing in the New Year with N.E.R.D. f/Rihanna’s “Lemon,” as the track moves toward the Top 30, up triple-digit spins again. CNCO & Little Mix’s “Reggaeton Lento” (SYCO) is #35 and on 130+ stations. Be sure to look for the following Pop releases: Farruko f/Nicki Minaj & 21 Savage’s “Krippy Kush,” Foster The People’s “Sit Next To Me” and Grace Vanderwaal’s “So Much More Than This.”

MUSIC WE LOVE: Louis Tomlinson’s “Miss You” (SYCO/Epic), Beck’s “Up All Night” (Capitol).
