Labor Day weekend is officially in the books marking the end of the summer. And what a great weekend it was for college football; if those games are any indication of the season to come, bring it on. Now we look to fall and gear up for the fourth quarter push—my favorite time of the year!

RCA’s Riccitelli, JR, Daddio & Cooper just watched Sia’s “Cheap Thrills” (Monkey Puzzle), after 23 weeks on the chart, climb back into the #1 spot this week. Britney Spears f/G-Eazy’s “Make Me” also climbed into the Top 20. Pitbull f/Flo Rida and LunchMoney Lewis’ “Greenlight” is bubbling just under and looking to chart after being in the Most Added column, pulling in adds from Venus, KHTS, WKTU and WZMP. Tinashe’s “Superlove” is also making the climb into the chart and has 35+ stations spinning, among them WIOQ, WDZH and WQMP. Impacting this week is Martin Garrix & BeBe Rexha’s “In The Name of Love” (STMPD RCRDS).

Mom & Pop’s David Jacobs has officially joined the Top 10 with Flume f/Kai’s “Never Be Like You.” The track has all but cleared the panel at T40 and is also climbing the sales and streams charts and moving toward double platinum. Nice work!

Columbia’s Leipsner, Borris & Vaughan are making the push to #1 with Adele’s “Send My Love (To Your New Lover)” (XL) with tremendous research and sales (10X platinum); this one has earned the trip. The Chainsmokers f/Halsey’s “Closer” (Disruptor) is now Top 10 climbing up to #8 this week and was once again one of the Greatest Gainers. Frenship’s “Capsize” charted this week and pulled in new adds from KZHT, WRVW and KBFF.

Warner Bros.Gray, Dyer, Reich & Shih have moved Tinie Tempah f/Zara Larsson’s “Girls Like” (Disturbing London) up to #32 and look poised to join the Top 30 this week with big spin increases coming in from KLUC, KKHH and WPLW. Lukas Graham is sitting just outside the Top 20 with “Mama Said” and should join this week after pulling in 20+ rotation increases and with four new stations already on board. Jason Derulo’s “Kiss The Sky” (Beluga Heights) impacted with 37 adds that included KDIS, WHYI, KUDD and KYLD and is already chartbound.

Chris Taylor
(pictured), PD, WHBQ, says “Perfect timing for Jason Derulo to come with this fresh track. It really sounds great in the mix on the station.”

Capitol’s Marella, Rainey, Youngblood & Siciliano are setting up for the impact of Bastille’s “Good Grief” (Virgin) at Top 40 as the track moves Top 5 at Alternative; this one is on fire. Jon Bellion’s “All Time Low” is getting some big support at Top 40 from Z100, WKSC, WWWQ and KZZP, and is on path to chart next week. It already has 90+ stations on board.

Def Jam’s Sackheim, Rothchild & Farag moved Major Lazer f/Justin Bieber and Mo’s “Cold Water” (Mad Decent) up the chart another notch to #4 as they make their way to the top. The track is consistently in the Greatest Gainer category and has cleared the panel. Rihanna’s “Needed Me” (Westbury Road/Roc Nation) is moving toward Top 15 this week, and will get help from big spin increases coming in from KIIS and WXSS. Alessia Cara’s “Scars (To Your Beautiful)” joins the Top 30 and is on 135+ stations with new adds coming in this week from KRUF, WDCG and KZCH. Nathan Sykes’ “Give It Up” is now on 75 stations and pulled in new airplay from KRQQ and KSPW this week; look for this one to join the chart soon. Next up is Kayne West’s “Fade” (G.O.O.D.) which impacts T40 on 9/20.

Republic’s CW, Spangler & Russell keep piling on the spins to Shawn Mendes’ “Treat You Better” and the track is poised to join the Top 5 soon. Right behind it on the chart is Ariana Grande’s “Into You,” which jumped three spots to #7 this week. Drake f/Rihanna’s “Too Good” (YMCMB) climbs to #11 and should join the Top 10 next week. Hailee Steinfeld & Grey f/Zedd’s “Starving” pulled in new airplay from KQMV, KDND, WLDI and XHTZ this week and moved inside the Top 25. Kungs & Cookin’ on 3 Burners’ “This Girl” (Casablanca) is now #17; new adds include WZFT, WMKS and WKSL. Nick Jonas f/Ty Dollar $ign’s “Bacon” (Island) charted this week with 70 stations on board. New this week are HITS1, WFLC, KHKS and Radio Disney. Tove Lo’s “Cool Girl” (Island) should chart this week after scoring 80+ stations. Mike Posner’s “Be As You Are” (Island), coming off an ABC Nightline feature, pulled in 65+ adds and is bubbling just under.

Epic’s Team Glassman have over 100+ stations on Meghan Trainor f/Yo Gotti’s “Better” and it is already at #43 after being Most Added at both Pop and Hot AC last week. Leading the charge are WBBM, KLIF and Y100. DJ Khaled f/Drake’s “For Free” (We The Best) moves up inside the Top 30 to #27 this week. Landing on your desk soon will be the new Fifth Harmony single “That’s My Girl” (SYCO) impacting 9/26 and the new Zara Larsson, “It Ain’t My Fault,” impacting 9/19.

MUSIC WE LOVE: Jonas Blue f/JP Cooper, “Perfect Strangers,” (Virgin/Capitol); Flume f/Tove Lo “Say It” (Mom + Pop)
