Well, we all knew it had to come to an end, but before we cast American Idol to the side, let’s recall that when it launched almost 14 years ago, it took the music business by storm and was a huge platform for discovering and launching new artists in America. With over 440 registered #1’s and over 61 million albums sold to date, I dare say that everyone in the business has in some way been involved with or felt the influence of this show.

Republic’s CW, Spangler and Russell have another #1 this week with The Weeknd’s “Earned It” (XO) and show no signs of cooling down. They just keep 'em rolling, with Nick Jonas’ “Chains” (Island) still climbing inside the Top 10, Tove Lo’s “Talking Body” (Island) at #12 and moving into power with several majors and Sheppard’s “Geronimo” moving up to #26. Nicki Minaj’s “The Night Is Still Young” (YMCMB) debuted at #28 and was Most Added on impact, and Fall Out Boy’s “Uma Thurman” (DCD2/Island) is chartbound. Oh, and they just rolled out Jessie J’s “Flashlight” (Lava) and Shawn Mendes’ “Stitches” (Island). They’re stacking them up nicely!

Things really seem to be heating up over at Warner Bros. for Gray, Dyer (pictured right with artist Jake Miller), Reich and Shih. They have Jason Derulo’s “Want to Want Me” (Beluga Heights) moving to #4 and eyeing the top of the chart. They just launched Adam Lambert’s “Ghost Town”; the track has Top 5 Shazam numbers in major markets and is ready to chart. Echosmith’s “Bright” is poised to go Top 15. The band received rave reviews on their performance this weekend at Wango Tango. Jake Miller also performed this weekend at the big show. His track with Travie McCoy, “Dazed and Confused,” has some pretty impressive Shazam and sales numbers and should chart soon.

Def Jam’s Sackheim, Chester, Rothchild and Farag are impacting Axwell^Ingrosso’s “On My Way” this week and already have B96 and WDZH on the board, while Rihanna’s “American Oxygen” (Roc Nation) has moved up to #34 and WNFN, WRNW and WHKF are already on the board for this week. Rihanna will also be performing on SNL’s season finale on 5/16. Both Alesso f/Roy English’s “Cool” and Jeremih f/Flo Rida’s “Tonight Belongs to U” are set to chart soon.

RCA’s Riccitelli, JR, Strazza, Daddio and Cooper have Walk The Moon’s “Shut Up and Dance” ready to charge the top of the chart as they prepare to move Top 5 this week. Sia’s “Elastic Heart” (Monkey Puzzle) picked up 10 new adds and moved Top 30. Britney Spears & Iggy Azalea’s “Pretty Girls” was #1 Most Added at Pop last week with over 125 stations out of the box. Martin Garrix f/Usher’s “Don’t Look Down” picked up 13 new stations including WNKS, KDND and WPOI. Pitbull f/Chris Brown’s “Fun” (Mr.305/Polo Grounds) charted this week and picked up WZMP, WFLZ, WHQC and ten others to add to the already 75 on board. Launching this week is Deorro X Chris Brown’s “Five More Hours”; they already have WIOQ and KZON on the board.

RAL’s Weil and Halpern have Shaggy f/Mohombi/Faydee/Costi’s “I Need Your Love,” which is up over 600 spins. New adds include AMP Philly, KDND and WEZB, as they move into power rotation at WKTU, WBMP and WXKS

Epic’s Team Glassman launched Mariah Carey’s “Infinity” last week. The track was one of the Most Added with B96, KDWB and KLUC in the mix. Meghan Trainor’s “Dear Future Husband” moves Top 15 this week and Fifth Harmony f/Kid Ink’s “Worth It” (SYCO) should make that jump soon as Cumulus climbs on board.

Columbia’s Leipsner, Borris and Vaughan picked up Z100, KRBE, WWPW and KSLZ on George Ezra’s “Budapest,” which is set up to join the Top 20 this week. Calvin Harris f/HAIM’s “Pray to God” should move Top 30 next with new airplay coming from WBMP, KMVQ and KHKS. Dillon Francis f/DJ Snake’s “Get Low” (Mad Decent) has a new campaign rolling out with Dodge and that should help push it even further up the chart. OMI’s “Cheerleader” just missed charting and should make the jump this week. Look for Rachel Platten to start climbing the Pop chart, as WNCI, WXXL, WZPL and WRVW all come on board.

Capitol’s Reese, Rainey, Youngblood and Siciliano have Ne-Yo’s “Coming With You” (Motown) moving closer to the chart with new believers in WZFT KTFM and WHKF. BANKS’ “Beggin for Thread” (Harvest) launched in the Most Added column and gets help this week from WXXS and WRVW, while Sam Hunt’s “Take Your Time,” also Most Added at launch, moves closer to charting and collects WRNW, WRVQ and WFLY to move it closer.

Hollywood’s Finck, Smith and Ennis moved Andy Grammer’s “Honey, I’m Good” (S-Curve) Top 20 this week. Big rotation increases at KHKS, WXXL and KHFI should keep this one moving up the chart. R5’s “Let’s Not Be Alone Tonight” charted and has new believers in KZHT, WKKF and WLAN.

MUSIC WE LOVE: Kaya Stewart’s “In Love With a Boy” (Warner Bros.), American Authors’ “Go Big or Go Home” (Island)
