The brand new, as-yet unnamed label co-founded by SONGS Publishing’s Matt Pincus and Ron Perry and industry vet Barry Weiss is now underway, with Weiss spending his first day in the office this week. The company is still lining up distribution (rumors that Sony had locked that down were unfounded), but has hired Christine Chiappetta to handle Alternative and Triple A promotion—and is looking for a Pop/Rhythm radio specialist. Stay tuned.

The honor was bestowed upon the rock icon by Capitol Music Group EVP Greg Thompson (rt) and UMe prexy Bruce Resnikoff (l). Then proud Detroiter and ardent fanboy Thompson donned his lucky briefs to re-enact the “Old Time Rock and Roll” segment from Risky Business, prompting Seger to observe that although rock and roll never forgets, sometimes it really, really wishes it could.
