You're probably aware that "Drag Me Down" by SYCO/Columbia's superstar lad band One Direction has been dominating at iTunes. Well, it's also going apeshit at Spotify, becoming the fastest-ever global #1, as well as the #1 track in the U.S. and 15 territories worldwide, #3 in the U.K. and Top 5 in 37 territories, with 4.75 million streams and a 1.2m audience. It's also earned the most streams in a single day for any track, outpacing "See You Again" by nearly 500k. It's a huge showing for Stringer and Klaiman's Team Columbia and Simon Cowell and Sonny Takhar's SYCO. Even Daniel Ek is swooning, although Donald Trump suspects the band might be in the country illegally.
Big score to start the week for the Columbia promotion team: OMI goes #1, Rachel Platten goes Top 10 at Top 40 and #1 at Hot AC, with three debuts at Top 40: 1 Direction, Calvin Harris and Little Mix. A conversation ensued; here are some of the highlights.
The streets of downtown Chicago were flooded on Sunday afternoon after Lollapalooza, which draws approximately 300k attendees (around 100k a day), had to be evacuated due to severe thunderstorms.
