As U.S. sales of Adele’s 25 look set to top 3.5 million, the U.K. born singer has sailed past Oasis’ chart record, claiming Blighty’s fastest-selling album of all time. According to the Official Charts Company, 25 has topped 737k sales since Friday, passing the 696k Be Here Now by Oasis notched up in 1997. However, the feat isn’t quite as comparatively impressive as it might look.
Adele’s 25 continues to surge, up 25% from Tuesday, with most accounts up 20-30%. Forecasts now put the megastar’s new set at 3.5 million for her debut week—leaving prior sales records in the dust—and possibly as much as 6m for the season.
