No actual torches were passed Wednesday during an official visit by Mo Ostin and Lenny Waronker to the new home of Warner Records in DTLA—that would be risky. But once the two legends located the snazzy edifice using Google Maps, they graciously submitted to this formally posed photo with their modern-day counterparts, Co-Chairman/CEO Aaron Bay-Shuck and Co-Chairman/COO Tom Corson.
“Mo and Lenny approve!” exclaimed in an Instagram post accompanying the pic. “Can’t believe I get to spend time with and learn from two of the greatest record men of ALL TIME. Your belief and support means everything to me and to all of us @warnerrecords. To quote Mo: ‘The new building is a smash... a perfect environment for a company headed back to the top. I LOVE WARNER RECORDS!!!’ We love you right back.”
To be honest, we stretched the truth a bit. Lenny still serves as a consultant to the company whose musical culture he defined, so he’s already spent considerable time at the new digs. But for Mo, hale and hearty at 92, it was quite a schlep from the Palisades—long enough to listen to neighbor Randy Newman's Faust in its entirety.
