DELUXE PANELING

Todd Rundgren and Lo Moon's Matt Lowell were among the 2018 panelists.

Karen Glauber’s long-running panel has become a latter-day SXSW institution, and for this veteran of all 33 confabs, it’s far too late to stop now.

Participants in the 2019 iteration, which KG has imaginatively (and perhaps ironically) dubbed “Heavenly Pop Hit,” are Cherry Glazerr’s Clementine Creevy, Kiwi comeback kid Martin Phillipps of The Chills, the irrepressible Andrew WK, semi-regular Matthew Caws of Nada Surf (pictured in the tease) and Superchunk’s Mac McCaughan.

They’ll be imparting pearls of wisdom and raising their voices in song Thursday from 3:30-to-4:30pm at Room 18 ABC at the Austin Convention Center.

Says Karen, “This is my 10th (at least) annual songwriters panel, in which the art of the song is discussed and performed. If history prevails, expect unreleased songs to be performed for the first time, as well as songs written on the spot, classic favorites and an audience sing-along at the close of the panel.”
