"FREE" SPEECH

It's been a while since we had a big, mainstream political anthem, but Island's The Killers have a pretty strong candidate. Their new song, "Land of the Free," is a passionate meditation on our political moment, considering guns, immigration and the larger question of how the ideals the country has long espoused are being grievously betrayed. The powerful clip for the song was directed by none other than Spike Lee, who skillfully assembles documentary footage into a stirring, infuriating and ultimately hopeful narrative. Check it out.
