CHART SAGA: WTF, NIELSEN?

WTF is going on at Nielsen? There have been no Music Connect charts published since Mumford & Sons’ #1 a few weeks back, and there’s no building chart for this week—and may not be one next week. Nielsen is silent about how or when this situation might be remedied.

The Bible, meanwhile, is publishing a chart with rankings, but it’s unknown how those are established without Nielsen numbers. It gave Travis Scott a #1 last week after promising the top spot to the 6ix9ine camp.

How are the labels dealing with not having any charts for the last two weeks? What does all this do to the credibility of those charts, once considered the most reliable in the business? If this is how Nielsen is managing data for the music industry, what does it suggest about the credibility of the data for the other industries Nielsen tracks?
