U.K. CHARTS: THE 1975'S STREAK CONTINUES

The 1975 have scored their third Official Albums #1 in the U.K. with A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships (Dirty Hit/Polydor) hitting the top on 50k combined sales. Over on singles, Ariana Grande has set a new streaming record.

In hitting the top, The 1975 are the first British band to do so with their first three albums since Arctic Monkeys did the same in 2009. Of those 50k sales, just over 8k were vinyl.

The Greatest Showman (Atlantic) is at #2, Michael Buble’s Love (Reprise) moves down to #3, George Ezra is #4 with Staying at Tamara’s (Columbia) and last week’s #1, Take That‘s Odyssey (Polydor), closes the Top 5.

The second highest new albums entry this week is Katherine Jenkins with Guiding Light (Decca) at #17, followed by Clean Bandit’s sophomore album, What is Love? (Atlantic), at #19.

David Bowie live album Glastonbury 2000 (Parlophone) opens at #25, Def Leppard’s best of, The Story So Far (Virgin EMI), is new at #32 and Meek Mill’s Championships (WEA) lands at #33.

On the Official Singles Chart, Ariana Grande’s “thank u, next” (Republic) spends a fifth week at #1 with a record-breaking 14.9m streams, 7.9m of which come from the newly released video. The track has scored the highest number of plays in a week in U.K. chart history, overtaking Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” (Atlantic), which tallied 14.2m streams in a single week last year.

Elsewhere, Ava Max is up to #2 with “Sweet But Psycho" (Atlantic) and Halsey hits a new peak at #3 with “Without Me” (Virgin EMI).

This week’s highest new entry goes to X Factor champion Dalton Harris, whose winner’s single “The Power of Love” f/James Arthur (Syco) debuts at #4. Further down, Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus debut at #10 with “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” (Columbia).
