SPOTIFY ADDS DATA TOOL FOR PUBLISHERS

Spotify has launched, in beta, a streaming analytics tool for publishers that will provide daily streaming statistics for specific works and recordings as well as data for each songwriter on a particular roster.

Spotify developed the Spotify Publishing Analytics platform in collaboration with a range of publishers; BMG and Reservoir were among the first companies to work with Spotify on the new platform. The company made the announcement in a blog post.

“The publishing community is integral in supporting the songwriters that create the music we love,” said Jules Parker, Head of Publishing Relations & Services, EMEA and APAC, Spotify. “With more information, publishers are empowered to make the most of the opportunities the global reach of Spotify provides, and the more information we can share with each other, the more opportunities we can help create for songwriters.”

Reservoir’s Director of Royalties & Copyright Administration Rich Scott DePerto said the tool “allows us to better track our catalog’s performance and gives us valuable insight that we can use to make more informed business decisions in supporting our songwriters.”

BMG EVP Global Content Partnerships & Synch Patrick Joest noted, “music publishers can gain insights into new opportunities for their songwriters, more efficiently collect royalties on their behalf, and more effectively market their works.”

Publishers can learn how they can get started here.
