China’s Kris Wu has dominated the iTunes charts all weekend, with Antares the #1 album and seven of its tracks in the Top 10. Of the three features, “Coupe” f/Rich the Kid is the highest-charting at #6, while “Freedom” f/Jhené Aiko is #18, but “Deserve” f/Travis Scott isn’t in the Top 200.
What’s atypical about Wu’s iTunes takeover is that nothing from Antares—none of the features or current single “November Rain”—has yet appeared on any streaming chart that we’ve been able to access. A perusal of Spotify’s USA and global Top 50s and the two viral charts Monday morning, for example, confirms that this is still the case. As soon as Wu’s music appears outside of iTunes, we’ll let you know.
Antares is the first Wu project to be released through a partnership between UMG China, Interscope in the States and Island in the U.K. The 28-year-old (as of 11/6) Guangzhou native is also an actor and a judge on The Rap of China.
