J BALVIN, ROSALIA LEAD 2018 LATIN GRAMMY NOMINATIONS

The 2018 Latin Grammy nominations were announced today and reggaeton champion J Balvin leads the pack with eight nominations. The Colombian native got nods for Album of the Year with Vibras (Universal Music Latin), and two songs nominated for Record of the year, among others.

Urban-flamenco pop star Rosalia (Sony Latin) follows Balvin with five nods. The Spanish talent returns after being a Best New Artist nominee in 2017 with sizzling track "Malamente" up for Song and Record of the Year.

Despite two urban acts sharing the most nods, singer-songwriters represent the bulk of the acts nominated. There was also an increase in female representation as an equal number of male and females were nominated in the Best New Artist and Song and Record of the Year categories.

Noteworthy crossover acts nominated include COASTCITY (Empire) for Best Urban Music Album, Ozuna (VP/Sony), Maluma (Sony Latin) and Daddy Yankee (El Cartel/Interscope) among others.

The 2018 Latin Grammys will take place on 11/15 at the MGM Grand Arena. Read the full list of nominees here.
