CYPRESS HILL HEADS TO BMG

Cypress Hill has signed an exclusive worldwide deal with BMG that begins with the 9/28 release of their ninth studio album, Elephants On Acid. It’s B-Real and Sen Dog’s first release in eight years.

Produced by DJ Muggs, Elephants On Acid comes 27 years after the release of Cypress Hill’s self-titled debut. The agreement with the artists is the result of a joint pitch by BMG’s German and U.S. frontline recordings teams.

“Few hip-hop artists are as remarkable as Cypress Hill,” Tom ‘Grover’ Biery, EVP Recorded Music, BMG US, said. “Elephants On Acid is yet another example of their enormous creativity and why they remain so vital today.”

Maximilian Kolb, Director A&R Recorded Music BMG Germany, noted “they created music which has as much resonance here in Germany as it has in the U.S., influencing a new generation of artists.”

Cypress Hill’s 1991 debut album sold more than 2m copies in the U.S. and their second, 1993’s Black Sunday, debuted at #1 and went triple platinum.

Cypress Hill will tour the U.S., South America, Latin America and Europe beginning in September.
