DRAKE'S SCORPION: THE PRE-GAME SHOW

Drake has dropped the trailer for new YMCMB/Republic set Scorpion (due 6/29), and the biz is abuzz with speculation about how it might perform in its first week. Will it have a seven-figure bow, all in? What role might a bundle play? How will Drizzy's brutal diss war with Pusha T affect the narrative?

Will Drake reclaim his previous record for most first-week streams (385m), currently held by Post Malone (431m)? What streaming records will Scorpion set? Will Drake fans stream Scorpion enough times in its first week for it to surpass one million in total. How will the new weighted chart rules, which give more weight to subscriber streams, impact/benefit Scorpion?

One thing's for sure: All eyes are on the streaming giant, whose mixtape More Life debuted at 505k (225k albums) in 2017, and whose proper album Views bowed with 1.04m all in (855k albums) the previous year.

Here’s how Drake’s SEA might look at different levels of streaming and ad-supported percentages. At 750m streams and only 10% ad-supported, he could gain as much as 60k in SEA under the new formula. Paid steams are 1250:1, ad-supported streams are 3750:1.

Although XXXtentacion's death has recently altered the streaming leaderboards, Drake has been a dominant force there all year with such tracks as "God's Plan" (644m U.S. streams) and "Nice for What" (324m) not to mention tracks on which he's featured, such as Blocboy JB's "Look Alive" (OVO/Warner Bros.) and the Lil Baby collab "Yes Indeed" (Quality Control/Motown/Capitol; #4 on our most recent Streaming Songs Chart).

Drake goes out with Migos for the Aubrey and the Three Amigos Tour beginning 7/26 in Salt Lake City.
