LIL WAYNE SETTLES LAWSUIT WITH UMG, CASH MONEY: REPORTS

Lil Wayne's long-running lawsuit against Cash Money Records, Birdman and Ronald "Slim" Williams, UMG Recordings Inc. and Universal Music Group has finally been settled, according to multiple reports. Documents first filed in the suit dated back to 2015. A notice for dismissal was filed on 5/23.

According to The Blast, Universal agreed to pay well over $10 million to settle the suit, with none of the money coming from Birdman. In addition, Lil Wayne is reportedly free from his deal with Cash Money and Universal will now release Weezy's storied Tha Carter V.

Lil Wayne and Universal also settled a separate lawsuit, originally filed by Wayne against UMG and SoundExchange, with both sides agreeing to bear their own costs and attorney fees.

The saga began with Lil Wayne suing Birdman and Cash Money Records to have his deal voided. Wayne alleged that Cash Money never paid the $8 million advance due to him upon recording The Carter V.
