MUSIC INNOVATORS UP FOR AWARDS

Universal Music Group Nashville chief Mike Dungan, Red Light Management head Coran Capshaw and Steve Blatter of SiriusXM are up for Innovator of the Year at the second Innovation in Music Awards.

Nominees in seven categories were announced today. Among the industry folk also earning nods were UMG Nashville prexy Cindy Mabe, Sony Music Nashville's John Zarling, Warner Music Nashville's Shane Tarleton, iHeart Country's Rod Phillips, UMG's Jay Frank, Spotify's John Marks, Girlilla Marketing's Jennie Smythe, AEG's Louis Messina and Ticketmaster's Amy Howe. Kenny Chesney, Kacey Musgraves, Midland, Dan Auerbach and Dave Cobb were all tapped in the Creative category.

“Challenges in the music industry call for creative strategies and risk taking at the highest levels to be successful and shape the future of the business,” said Pete O’Heeron, Chairman of the Innovation IN MUSIC Awards. “These nominees represent that progressive mindset.”

The awards will be handed out 6/3 at the Westin Hotel in Nashville. Bill Werde, Director of the Bandier Music Industry Program in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, will be the host of the event.

The recipient of the Impact in Innovation Award will be announced at a later date. Nominees and executives will gather in Las Vegas on Saturday at the IMA nominee reception at the MGM Grand.
