CRUSH MUSIC TURNS ON CANAL STREET

Laissez les bons temps rouler: Wayne Sharp has opened the doors of Canal Street Music Management, a partnership with Crush Music that's launching with Rick Springfield and The B-52s.

"Canal Street’s focus will be on iconic artists and will deliver them the respect, passion, and service they deserve,” Sharp said. "We feel we can bring new energy and contemporary ideas to established artists who wish to remain successful in today’s highly crowded and competitive recording, touring and branding fields.”

The company’s name is a nod to Sharp’s hometown of New Orleans that marked his introduction to the music business when he worked at Saenger Theater. Sharp met Crush Music co-founder Jonathan Daniel at the theater in the 1980s; in 1985, he bailed Daniel out of New Orleans’ Central Lockup.

"Wayne is music for life. That’s the church we belong to here at Crush,” Daniel said. “Hopefully, he won’t have to bail me out of jail again.”

Sharp was most recently VP, Global Touring, at Career Artist Management where he worked with Maroon 5, Sara Bareilles and Miguel, among others. He was also Vice President of Concerts at Madison Square Garden and worked for Wilkins Management.
